Sarkodie, the popular Ghanaian rap icon, has expressed his support for Citi FM/Citi TV's campaign to collect relief items for the victims affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage. In a post, the award-winning rapper called on fellow Ghanaians to contribute to the campaign and provide assistance to those currently in distress due to the spillage.
The Volta River Authority (VRA) began the controlled water spillage from the Akosombo and Kpong Dams on September 15, 2023, in response to the rising inflow pattern and water level of the Akosombo reservoir. Unfortunately, this has resulted in thousands of residents in areas such as South Tongu, North Tongu, Central Tongu, Asuogyaman, and others having their homes submerged.
Citi FM/Citi TV, a prominent radio and television station in Accra, is taking a proactive approach by initiating a campaign to collect relief items for the affected victims. Sarkodie's endorsement of this campaign further emphasizes the importance of solidarity and community support during such challenging times.
To contribute to the campaign, Citi FM has established a dedicated collection point at its Adabraka office in Accra for the convenience of donors. Additionally, monetary donations can be made via MoMo number: 0550900006 (Omni Media), with reference to "Flood support."
