In an unexpected twist, retired COP Alex Mensah has described the leaked tape scandal that exposed a plot to remove IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as a blessing in disguise.
The scandal involved the public release of audio recordings containing private conversations between COP Mensah, Superintendent George Asare, and former NPP Northern Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu. The leaked tapes caused significant embarrassment to the individuals involved.
During an interview on Joy News, COP Alex Mensah, who was at the center of the controversy, shared that he was initially taken aback when the tapes became public. However, he now considers the incident as a blessing that has opened up unexpected opportunities for him.
Mensah expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he received from colleagues and friends throughout the ordeal. He acknowledged that the leaked tapes had provided him with more recognition and visibility than he could have predicted. He mentioned that his name and picture are now widely known in his constituency, and he has received calls from long-lost friends residing in various countries.
Acknowledging a higher power, Mensah reflected, "You see, God has His own way of blessing people. Had it not been for this tape, maybe we wouldn't have been here... God has His own way of bringing up somebody." He suggested that although the situation appeared challenging initially, it eventually became clear that it played a part in his personal growth and development.
COP Alex Mensah emphasized that he has learned valuable lessons from the leaked tape scandal and is determined to move forward with a renewed sense of purpose and responsibility. The incident has made him more aware of the need to address issues within the Ghana Police Service.
