The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the United Nations (UN) have denounced the killing of three people in the Foya District of Lofa County, Liberia, as a result of political clashes between supporters of the government's Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and the opposition Unity Party (UP). The UN and ECOWAS have voiced their concern over the violence and stressed the significance of sustaining peace and stability during this crucial period, which includes the elections for a president and members of the lower and upper chambers in Liberia on October 10.
