In recent news, parts of the Volta Region, including the North Tongu Constituency, have been severely flooded due to the spillage of excess water from the Akosombo Dam by the Volta River Authority (VRA). The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has taken proactive measures to assist his constituents affected by the floods.
In a social media post shared on Thursday, October 12, 2023, MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa expressed his involvement in the rescue operation. He, along with dedicated volunteers, worked tirelessly to rescue residents who were trapped by the floods and salvaged the properties of the victims. The MP also established a fund to provide support to all the flood victims and arranged for his constituents to be relocated to safer places.
In his social media post, MP Ablakwa commended the courageous constituents for demonstrating solidarity, compassion, and a strong sense of community spirit during this unprecedented disaster. He particularly praised the youth who volunteered day and night to rescue the vulnerable and protect personal belongings. Their selfless efforts truly make them heroes in this trying time.
