PUBLIC NOTICE: Shops And Other Establishments In Accra To Close For Clean-up Exercise On Saturday


In commemoration of its 125th anniversary, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has issued a directive for all shops, markets, lorry terminals, and other establishments in the metropolis to close down and participate in a massive clean-up exercise. The main aim of this exercise is to enhance the city's cleanliness and overall environment. 

This clean-up exercise is scheduled to commence at 6 am to 10 am on Saturday, 21st, and is also in preparation for the final funeral rites of the late Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedru III. According to the AMA, the focal areas for the exercise are the Ga Traditional Council (GTC) stretch of the Palace Street and the Rev. Thomas Clegg Memorial Methodist Church to Department of Social Welfare stretch of the Nii Asere Ayite Road in the Okaikoi South Sub-Metro. 


Other areas that will be targeted include Chorkor (Old Winneba Road), Korle Bu Traffic Light to Mamprobi Post Office (Guggisberg Avenue) in the Ablekuma South Sub-Metro, First Light area in the Ayawaso Central Sub-Metro, and the Achimota Overhead to the Lapaz intersection (George Walker Bush Highway) in the Okaikoi North Sub-Metro.

In a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Gilbert Nii Ankrah, the AMA has urged all residents to participate actively in this clean-up exercise. The success of this exercise is dependent on the collective efforts of all residents. 

A clean environment is essential for the health and well-being of all residents. It is, therefore, commendable that the AMA has taken the initiative to organize this clean-up exercise to commemorate its 125th anniversary. We urge all residents to participate actively and make this exercise a success.
