The National Sports Authority (NSA) has recently communicated its decision to shut down the Accra Sports Stadium during the Christmas festivities. This move directly affects three prominent Ghana Premier League clubs, prompting them to seek alternative venues for their home games during December.
In a letter signed by the Director General of the NSA, Professor Peter Twumasi, the unavailability of the sports facility was clearly outlined, necessitating the affected clubs—Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics, and Accra Lions—to make arrangements for hosting their matches elsewhere.
This decision aligns with the overall strategy to accommodate the upcoming holiday events, signaling a temporary shift in hosting responsibilities for the aforementioned clubs. The impact extends beyond the teams themselves, involving strategic notifications to key stakeholders such as the Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary information about the imminent closure of the stadium.

As a viable solution, the El-Wak Stadium has been identified as an alternative match center in Accra. Notably, this venue presently serves as the home ground for Legon Cities—a premier League side—providing a viable option for the affected clubs during this period.
