Beginning in January 2024, the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) will experience a significant increase in base pay of 23 percent. This increase will be applied consistently to all until June 2024, at which point it will increase to 25% from July 2024 to December 2024.

The government and Organized Labor reached a significant agreement on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, to conclude the last round of negotiations regarding Base Pay for the 2024 Single Spine Salary Structure. Organized Labour, a collection of organizations, associations, and worker unions within Ghana's Public Service, was on the other side of the bargaining table, with the government represented by the Ministry of Finance (MoF), the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC).
The pivotal agreement delineated a firm 23% escalation in the base pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) from January 2024 to June 2024. Subsequently, the base pay is set to undergo a further readjustment to 25% from July 2024 to December 2024, solidifying a comprehensive and phased approach to salary enrichment for the designated period.
Signatories to the Agreement
The agreement was formally endorsed by a number of notable figures, including Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Benjamin Arthur, Chief Executive of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, Dr. Isaac Bampo Addo, Chairman of FORUM, and Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Minister for Employment and Labour Relations. This endorsement was significant for this historic resolution.
