Do Not Sack Chris Hughton - Gerald Asamoah Advises GFA

Former Germany player, Gerald Asamoah, has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to maintain Chris Hughton as Black Stars head coach.

Asamoah believes that the Black Stars need continuity and a long-term plan with a coach who will be trusted to lead the process. He argues that Hughton should be the man for the project and advises the GFA not to pull the plug on him. Asamoah emphasized the need for continuity, stating that the team needs a coach who will be there for an extended period to implement a long-term plan.

He suggested that the GFA should identify a coach and commit to a long-term project with them, allowing the coach to build and develop the team over a period of five years. Asamoah also highlighted the importance of believing in and working with the coach to achieve long-term success.

The Black Stars technical team, consisting of Chris Hughton, George Boateng, Didi Dramani, and Richard Kingson, has faced heavy criticism following some poor results, including a 1-0 loss to Comoros in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Despite the criticism, Asamoah believes that maintaining Hughton as head coach for the long term would be beneficial for the team.
