Bukari revealed that progress has been made in digitalizing the Brown Card in some member countries, including Ghana, where the National Insurance Commission has already implemented digitalization. However, the goal is to ensure that all 14 West African states are on board and that their systems are linked.

Winfred Kwasi Dodzi, the Permanent Secretary of the ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme, explained that digitalization will streamline transit business through the ports of Ghana. It will make the Brown Card more accessible, simplify verification processes, reduce bottlenecks, expedite claims in the event of accidents, and ensure timely delivery of goods to their destinations.
