Isaac Dogboe's pursuit of a shot at the WBC featherweight title faced a setback after his loss to Nick Ball in the final eliminator held in Manchester. Dogboe faced a unanimous defeat, with all three judges scoring in favor of Ball, at 116-111, 118-109, and 119-108.

The Ghanaian boxer had been vying for an opportunity to challenge Rey Vargas, the current titleholder, who is yet to defend the belt following his victory over Mark Magsayo in July 2022. With this recent defeat, Ball now stands a chance of facing Vargas for the title, while Dogboe, having suffered four losses, aims to regroup and carve his path back to competing against the best in his division.

"I’m feeling good, it was a good performance from myself. I had to keep my cool in there and control the fight," said Ball after the match, as quoted by Bad Left Hook. "I feel like I’ve just controlled that fight at the world level. I’ve just put myself in position (to fight for a world title)." Ball's dominance was evident throughout the fight, despite occasional displays of strength and sharpness from Dogboe.

In a preceding report by Sports Brief, Dogboe had responded to critics who suggested that his career would be short-lived due to his height disadvantage. Dogboe's recent defeat to Robeisy Ramirez last month added to his challenges, as he had previously suffered back-to-back losses to fighters with a height advantage: Emmanuel Navarrete in the WBO Junior Lightweight division, followed by a loss to Ramirez in the WBO Featherweight title bout.
