Dr. Daniel Danquah, the Deputy Registrar at the Pharmacy Council, underscored that these closures are a pivotal aspect of the council's unwavering commitment to rigorously enforcing its laws. He emphasized that the council remains resolute in its efforts to uphold strict measures, aiming to safeguard the safety and well-being of the public. Moreover, he shed light on the disciplinary procedures undertaken, revealing that approximately 10 companies have already undergone this process. While some closures were temporary, with establishments reopening at the regional level upon compliance, the sheer number of closures within such a brief duration underscores the council’s dedication to upholding standards within the pharmaceutical sector.

Impact on Prominent Entities

The crackdown has notably affected various well-known pharmaceutical entities, including prominent names such as Ernest Chemist, Tobinco, Unicorn Chemist, East End Pharmacy, Edmark Health Products and Business, and 3M&C Health Systems. Dr. Daniel Danquah highlighted the significant scale of these enforcement efforts, stating, "If you are trying to put together facilities that have ever been closed down within the year, it is a lot. We can have 100 closed down in two or three months."
