See The New MTN Rates Effective November 28, 2023

MTN Ghana has officially announced its updated tariffs, effective as of November 28, 2023. In a newspaper advertisement on the same date, the company clarified that the tariff adjustments were made in response to regulatory requirements, rather than increased operational costs as previously suggested. The price increases apply to calls, SMS, data, and other services offered by the company.

The revised tariffs include a 4.3-gigabyte Turbonet fixed bundle priced at GHS43, a 91-gigabyte bundle adjusted to GH₵253, and a 350-gigabyte bundle available for GH₵516. Additionally, MTN's Broadband Special Bundles have also been updated, with a fee of GH₵150 providing access to a 39-gigabyte bundle and GH₵300 granting users a 195-gigabyte bundle.

The tariff adjustments reflect MTN's commitment to complying with regulatory requirements after being declared a Dominant/Significant Market Power (SMP) in the Voice, Data, and SMS markets by the National Communications Authority (NCA) in June 2020. Despite these changes, MTN Ghana remains the only profitable telecom company in the country, reporting a profit after tax of GH¢2.8 billion in its 2023 Q3 report on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE). This represents a 32.0 percent increase over the same period last year.

However, the company's subscriber base has been impacted by the NCA's directive on SIM disconnections, resulting in a 9.3 percent year-on-year decrease to 25.8 million subscribers.
