The Ghanaian pair painstakingly documented the complex and multifaceted e-waste ecosystem for nearly a year. Their research demonstrates how e-waste poses serious environmental and human health risks in addition to providing thousands of Ghanaians with a vital economic opportunity.

Their team's comprehensive research delved into the implications of e-waste trafficking spanning from Europe to Ghana, uncovering the opaque nature of this globalized cycle. By adopting both national and international perspectives, they presented a comprehensive examination of the ramifications of e-waste management, challenging the common portrayal of Ghana as the "dustbin of the world."

On being announced as the recipients of the award at the Visa pour l'Image international photojournalism festival in Southern France, Anas Aremeyaw Anas expressed his gratitude and indicated that the accolade would provide an opportunity for him and his team to further explore the e-waste ecosystem in Africa.
