The Electoral Commission (EC) has been criticized by the Coalition of District Election Observers (CODEO) for its inability to guarantee the seamless and effective administration of the district-level elections. The elections were postponed because to technical concerns with the voting machines and printing, which were mostly present in the Ashanti and Eastern regions, according to CODEO. The Electoral Commission announced that impacted voters would be able to cast their ballots on December 21, 2023.

He took issue with the commission's declarations of preparedness in light of problems with contracted vendors' deliveries.
"Now if you have contracted vendors 12 hours into an exercise, delivery has not been made, yet you have assured the whole country you are ready. It means you are not competent," Gbande remarked. CODEO's National Coordinator, Albert Arhin, criticized the Electoral Commission for inadequate due diligence, leading to inaccuracies in the names on the ballot papers. Arhin emphasized that the printing of the ballot papers should have been completed well in advance of the election to allow for quality checks and corrections.
