New rules prohibiting the movement of tricycles and motorbikes around the Kumasi Airport have been implemented by the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC). Riders are forbidden, as of right now, from going any more toward the airport proper past the Airport Roundabout.

The principal rationale for this restriction, according to REGSEC, is safety concerns. They draw attention to the possible risks that motorbikes and tricycles offer to drivers and passengers on the road that leads to the airport.
REGSEC said in a statement released on Thursday that any rider found to be in violation of this regulation would be subject to detention, legal action, and prosecution.
The statement read, “The Ashanti Regional Security Council has observed that motorbikes and tricycles travel from the Airport Roundabout to the Airport premises. This is unacceptable. Therefore, the Ashanti Regional Security Council directs that all motorbikes and tricycles are prohibited from riding beyond the Airport Roundabout to the Airport.”
“Any rider who disobeys this directive will be apprehended, prosecuted, and brought before the court. The Regional Security Council expects riders of motorbikes and tricycles within the region to strictly adhere to this directive to avoid legal consequences. Let us collaborate to maintain order and peace in the region for everyone.”
