Subsequently, 12 additional suspects, including two individuals suspected of being involved in human trafficking, were apprehended during mop-up operations conducted on Saturday evening and in the early hours of Sunday. In total, 28 suspected prostitutes, including two nursing mothers, were arrested during the operation. The remaining suspects were identified as Mr. Ndubueze Okereke, aged 37, and his wife, Mrs. Ifeoma Okereke, aged 35. These individuals, along with Mr. Kofo Bekoe, are believed to be part of a suspected trafficking syndicate.
The GIS emphasized that the successful operation was conducted with the cooperation and support of the local authorities, reflecting growing concerns regarding illicit activities, particularly involving foreign nationals, within the affected communities. The GIS also revealed that all of the suspects had entered the country illegally, possessing no passports or other travel identification documents. During the search conducted as part of the investigations, used and unused condoms were discovered, particularly in the rooms of the premises.

Furthermore, it was highlighted by the GIS that Mr. Bekoe had previously been arrested several months ago on charges related to harboring foreign nationals engaged in prostitution. He was subsequently released on bail pending further investigations. The current arrests serve as an update to the ongoing case against him, as the authorities continue to address issues of human trafficking and illegal activities.
The arrested suspects are currently in the custody of the Western Regional Command Headquarters for further investigation, prosecution, and eventual repatriation to their respective countries. The GIS further utilized the statement to remind landlords and property owners across the country of the importance of confirming the immigration status of potential foreign tenants, in line with relevant legislation, before renting out their properties to them.
