#OccupyBoG: Ernest Addison must receive petition himself, no one else – Ato Forson warns

As the #OccupyBoG protest gains momentum, the Minority Leader in Parliament has stated that they will only submit their petition to the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and no other officials.

Cassiel Ato Forson, speaking on Tuesday, October 3, during the demonstration calling for the resignation of the Bank of Ghana's Governor and his two deputies, stated that if Dr. Ernest Addison does not make himself available to receive the petition, the group is prepared to stay at the Central Bank for as long as necessary.

While acknowledging that the demonstration will follow the police-approved route, Forson emphasized that the leadership should be allowed to advance to the Bank of Ghana's office to hand over the petition.

"He [Ernest Addison] should be the one to receive it. No one else. We are not handing over the petition to any other person. Not his deputies, but he himself," Forson told JoyNews' Maxwell Agbagba.

Furthermore, he expressed the group's desire to read out the document to the Governor, ensuring that he hears their concerns and understands why it is in his own interest, as well as the interest of the people of Ghana, for him to step down from the central bank.

The protesters are demanding the Governor's resignation due to what they perceive as mismanagement at the central bank, leading to substantial losses and negative impacts on the Ghanaian economy.

It's important to note that protests and demonstrations are part of democratic processes where individuals voice their concerns and demand action. The specific details and outcomes of this demonstration will unfold as events progress.
