"Relocate Flood Victims To Saglemi" - Ablakwa Pleads To Government

The government has been urged by the minority in parliament to move the flood disaster victims to the Saglemi housing project. Notably, Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson stressed the importance of providing suitable homes for the impacted persons and advised that they temporarily migrate to the Saglemi homes project. The government must make sure that the residents of the 11 impacted areas for this constituency are appropriately housed because Saglemi is sitting idle. We are urging them to temporarily connect them to the Saglemi Housing complex as a matter of urgency, Dr. Forson told the media.

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto who has been working relentlessly toward the safety of his people for the past days has also joined the call with an intense plea.

In addition to this, Samuel Okudzeto has accused the VRA of causing the disaster and called for compensation for the victims.

Prior to the plea of the minority, a group of civil society organizations, the Alliance of Feminists Civil Societies Organisations (AFCSOs), has called on President Akufo-Addo to relocate the victims of the flooding caused by the spillage from the Akosombo and Kpong Dams to the abandoned Saglemi Housing Project. In a press statement, the AFCSOs emphasized that the safety and fundamental human rights of the victims should be a priority. They urged the government to provide decent accommodation for the victims at the Saglemi Housing Project while other interventions are being provided.
