The University of Ghana's Academic Affairs Directorate has announced that undergraduate students whose cumulative grade point average (CGPA) falls below the required minimum for progression to the next level of study will be withdrawn from the university. The notice specifically applies to students in the Colleges of Humanities, Basic and Applied Sciences, and Education. The university states that the minimum CGPA prescribed for these colleges is 1.00.
The notice, signed by the Director of the Academic Affairs Directorate, L.A. Nyako-Danquah, instructs level 200 and 300 students to review their academic performance through their online provisional transcript on the MISWeb portal. Students who have obtained a CGPA below the approved minimum for their college, based on the examination results of all registered courses in the 2022/2023 academic year, should anticipate official withdrawal letters from the university sent to their UG email addresses.
The university also stated that affected students who have already paid their fees for the upcoming semester will be refunded upon request. Recognizing the importance of this announcement, the university encourages students with questions or in need of support to contact the relevant College Academic Affairs Office.
It is important for students to be aware of the academic requirements and standards set by their respective institutions. The university's decision to withdraw students with a CGPA below the minimum threshold is motivated by the need to maintain academic excellence, uphold standards, and ensure that students are academically prepared for their future studies.
