NFA Names Speakers For Ghana’s African Cinema Summit


The National Film Authority (NFA) of Ghana, in collaboration with Filmhouse Group (Nigeria) and Silverbird Cinema (Ghana), has announced the speakers for the upcoming Africa Cinema Summit. The event, scheduled for November 14-16, 2023, aims to provide a platform for stakeholders in the movie industry to discuss challenges and opportunities in the African cinema space. The summit will focus on producing more local content and increasing screen numbers in Africa.

Some of the speakers at the event include; 

John Michael Schreiner, senior vice president of theatre development at Imax Corp, Europe, Middle East, and Africa 

Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante, CEO of NFA and convener of the summit

Moses Babatope, co-founder and deputy managing director of Filmhouse Group. Moses Babatope has over 20 years of experience in film exhibition, production, distribution, marketing, and cinema operations management.  

Funmi Onuma, country manager of Silverbird Cinema, Ghana. Funmi Onuma is the country manager of Silverbird Cinema, Ghana, and has achieved significant success in the cinema industry.  

Ope Ajayi, distributor at Cinemax and president of the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria

Rob Arthur, co-founder and director of Entertainment Solution Services Ltd and Paguro Ideas Ltd. Rob Arthur has over 30 years of experience in the cinema industry, working with companies such as Vue Entertainment and Warner Village Cinemas. 

 Marie Lora-Mungai, investor and strategic advisor specializing in the African creative industries and sports business

Chief Alhassan Andani, founder and executive chairman of LVSafrica Limited.

Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante, CEO of NFA and convener of the Africa Cinema Summit, is an award-winning writer, producer, director, and actress.
