During a press briefing titled "Let the citizens know," Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations at the EC, addressed concerns about individuals living in the Lower Volta Basin whose homes were affected by the floodwaters resulting from the spillage of the Akosombo and Kpong dams by the Volta River Authority (VRA).

Mr. Tettey explained that even if the flood victims have lost their voter ID cards, they can still go to their designated polling stations and vote as long as their names are accurately captured in the EC's database. The possession of a voter ID card is not a prerequisite for voting if the individual's name is properly registered.

He emphasized that the key factor in the flood victims' ability to vote without difficulties lies in finding their correct polling stations. Going to the wrong polling station would create complications and inconvenience, as their names may not be found in the register. However, if they go to the correct polling station, their names will be on the register, and they will be permitted to vote.

Hence, the flood victims are advised to ensure that they go to the right polling station to avoid any potential issues during the voting process.

The EC's assurance demonstrates its commitment to accommodating the flood victims and enabling them to exercise their democratic right to vote, even in challenging circumstances.
