CHASS has mentioned the acute need for quick interventions in addressing financial shortages and inadequate furniture in these educational institutions. With the imminent resumption of classes for both third-year and first-year students on January 3, 2024, CHASS President Rev. Father Stephen Owusu Sekyere has emphasized the urgency of resolving these issues.
According to Rev. Father Sekyere, there have been widespread grievances from school heads across all regions, emphasizing the challenges stemming from a lack of funding and insufficient food supplies. He highlighted these concerns in his statement to Accra-based Citi FM, stating, "Every region is complaining about some food items, and as for money issues, we have been talking about it. Even at our conference, our president has spoken about that extensively, and it looks as if there is a problem with cash flows to our schools."

Additionally, CHASS has stressed the pivotal need for adequate furniture to accommodate the anticipated surge in student enrollment come January. Despite continuous appeals, Rev. Father Sekyere expressed concern over the persistent shortage of furniture, highlighting the potential adverse impact on the learning environment for students. In his own words, "I just spoke to the minister, and he tells me that they are working on the disbursement of monies to our schools, and he is working on furniture. I hope and pray that these things will come very soon."

CHASS's plea for urgent attention to these critical issues is further fueled by the recent interdiction of 11 headteachers of SHS nationwide for imposing unauthorized fees on students. This development underscores the importance of addressing the financial and infrastructural challenges faced by these schools to ensure a conducive and equitable learning environment for all students.
