MTN Launches ‘Free After 1 Extra’



The massive telecom operator in Ghana, MTN, has released an updated version of their "Free After 1" call plan. With the launch of the new "Free After 1 Extra" service, which aims to improve the customer experience by providing more value-added services, the call plan is going to get even better. The "Free After 1" service was first introduced a few years ago with the goal of giving consumers longer call times after they have paid for the first minute of the call.

Customers only need to phone *550# and choose option 6 to access the "Free After 1 Extra" service. Customers can benefit from uninterrupted calls for as long as 60 minutes with this activation; they just pay for the first minute following every 10 minutes of the call. Consequently, subscribers will only be charged for the initial minute within every 10-minute interval, ensuring a seamless and continuous call experience.

With this novel offering, customers no longer need to end their calls at the 10-minute mark, as they will only be billed for one minute within each 10-minute segment. Essentially, the ‘Free After 1 Extra’ service builds upon the existing ‘Free After 1’ plan by eliminating the need for call interruptions every 10 minutes.

Noel Kojo Ganson, Chief Commercial Officer of MTN Ghana, expressed that this enhanced plan was developed in response to customer feedback, underlining the company's commitment to evolving its offerings based on customer needs. Ganson stated, “We are confident that the newly introduced ‘Free After 1 Extra’ service allows customers to stay connected and enjoy uninterrupted calls with their business associates, family, and loved ones.” 

Demonstrating MTN's dedication to providing tailored solutions, Ganson added, “Motivated by our belief that ‘Everybody deserves the benefits of a modern, connected life, we continue to create relevant offers for each customer category to meet their unique needs and preferences.”
