You have Crossed The Redline: Amidu Jabs Agyebeng For His Response On Court Rulings

Former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, has leveled serious accusations against his predecessor, Kissi Agyebeng, alleging a deliberate attempt to scandalize and incite the media against the judiciary service. In a detailed 15-page document shared with GhanaWeb, Amidu asserted that Agyebeng crossed a critical boundary and violated the provisions of the 1992 Constitution during a press conference on November 29, 2023.

In his communication, Amidu condemned Agyebeng's press conference, characterizing it as an act intended to maliciously provoke the media and the public against the judicial branch of government, thereby undermining the administration of justice. He contended that this crossed the line of freedom of speech and expression, ultimately subverting the fundamental principles enshrined in the Constitution.

One of Amidu's primary contentions was related to Agyebeng's expressed concerns about dismissive rulings in corruption cases, with the latter cautioning that such court actions could have severe repercussions for Ghana's anti-corruption efforts. Amidu, however, framed Agyebeng's statements as a deliberate attempt to incite public opinion and media backlash against the judiciary, going as far as describing the former's actions as liable for impeachment.

Furthermore, Amidu did not mince words in his assessment of Agyebeng's appointment by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, branding it as one of the president's most egregious decisions.
