AFCON 2023: Chris Hughton Must Instill Discipline in Black Stars To Succeed In Tournament - Maxwell Konadu

Maxwell Konadu, the former assistant coach of the Black Stars, has urged head coach Chris Hughton to take charge of the team as they get ready for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

In order for the team to succeed in the competition, Konadu underlined the significance of discipline. "Whether he likes it or not, I believe Chris Hughton has to establish his authority on the team," he said. Ghanaians are growing weary of athletes acting anyway they please while in camp. We want to see a crew that follows directions and acts like they are from an army barracks.

Konadu stressed that instilling discipline would give Ghanaians confidence in the team and ensure that players are focused on the ultimate goal of winning the cup.

Chris Hughton’s Black Stars are currently based in Kumasi, intensively preparing for the 34th edition of the AFCON to be hosted in Ivory Coast. Ghana's group stage campaign will commence with a match against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024. They will then face record champions Egypt just four days later before concluding their group stage against Mozambique on January 22.
