Former President John Mahama has called on Ghanaians to uphold the constitution and refrain from entertaining thoughts of revolution. His concern arises from recent coup attempts in neighboring West African countries such as Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, and Niger. Mr. Mahama addressed the Regional Imams of Ghana Conference during the 3rd National Conference of Imams in Kumasi, where he also criticized the Akufo-Addo-led government for its handling of national affairs.
Expressing his views, Mr. Mahama highlighted that previous warnings issued to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) regarding the potential dangers of their chosen path were disregarded. As a result, the nation is currently facing various challenges. However, in light of these circumstances, Mr. Mahama underscored the importance of adhering to constitutional governance, emphasizing that the alternative of advocating for a coup should not be considered.
