Collins Offinam Takyi, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tano South in the Ahafo Region, urged the Ahafo Regional Education Directorate to step up efforts to combat examination misconduct during the Nine Lessons and Carols ceremony in Bechem.
In an interview with Adom News, the MCE emphasized how urgently real steps must be taken to combat the problem of exam malpractice, especially in view of the alarming increase in student participation in exam cheating nationwide.

Takyi stated the importance of the Ahafo Regional Education Directorate's endeavors in upholding the region's prestigious standing for academic honesty emphasizing the importance of preventing malpractice from permeating the educational landscape within the Ahafo Region, advocating for enhanced measures to curtail such practices.
While acknowledging that there have been no reports of Tano students being implicated in examination malpractice, Takyi urged authorities to fortify their preventive actions. He called for an intensified effort to combat malpractice in the event that any students from the region are found to be involved, accentuating the collective responsibility of all Ghanaians in upholding educational standards.

In response, Lucy Ama Ankrah, the Ahafo Regional Education Director, urged teachers and other Ghana Education Service (GES) staff to redouble their endeavors in 2024 to enhance the educational standard in the region. She urged the collective learning from past mistakes and emphasized the need for continuous improvement, stressing the imperative of not regressing, but progressing forward to safeguard the integrity of the students in the Ahafo Region.
