Dr. Osae emphasized the critical role of local governance in fostering balanced and inclusive development nationwide. He highlighted that the local government level was initially developed to nurture future leaders for the country. However, the current disregard for district-level elections and governance processes raises concerns about the potential scarcity of capable leaders in the future.

While discussing the fallout from the recently concluded district-level election, Dr. Osae raised critical points. Although the election was relatively peaceful, with minimal disruptions, the Electoral Commission (EC) encountered challenges in some areas, leading to the postponement of the election due to issues such as a shortage of ballot papers.

Dr. Osae stressed that the mismanagement of the local government system has already contributed to development challenges in various regions. He expressed his concern about the adverse impact of this neglect, stating, "If we don’t pay particular attention to our local government system, the development [of Ghana] will suffer."

In advocating for a holistic approach, Dr. Osae emphasized the need not only to address the election process but also to focus on improving physical infrastructure and providing adequate financial support for local assemblies. He specifically highlighted the significance of timely and complete disbursement of funds owed to the assemblies, such as the common fund, underlining the essential financial support required for effective local governance.
