I Will Expose All Politicians Involved In LGBTQ If You Pass The Anti-LGBTQ Bill - Transgender Activist Threatens

(Angel Maxine)

In response to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin's recent assurance regarding the passing of the 'Anti-gay bill' before the house recesses for the Christmas holidays, popular Ghanaian transgender activist, Angel Maxine, has issued a stern warning. Maxine has threatened to expose a list of politicians whom she claims are actively engaged in LGBTQ practices. This comes amidst heightened tensions following the Speaker's commitment to passing the bill, a move that has reignited the LGBTQ community in Ghana, prompting fervent vows to resist the impending legislation.

In a vocal display of opposition, Maxine took to social media with a collection of purported evidence, including chats and incriminating information, allegedly implicating various politicians in LGBTQ practices. Maxine's fiery message served as a direct challenge to political figures, asserting her readiness to expose individuals, including their family members, involved in what she described as secretive homosexual activities. The threats underscore the intensity of the debate surrounding LGBTQ rights and the impending legislative action in Ghana.

“Pass the bill and I will show you your MPs who are LGBTQ persons. You think I have not seen gay politicians? All the MPs who have been texting people to get them boys to sleep with. All of the politicians who have been begging pimps to hook them up with boys. All your chats and conversations are here (points to a pile of documents). Pass the bill and I will expose your family members and children who are gay. All those queer celebrities, also cannot speak for themselves,” she fumed.

Maxine directed her accusations towards specific political figures, including Minority MPs such as Sam George, and the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, among others, bemoaning what she perceived as their inadequacies and purported alignment with external influences regarding the impending bill. Her pointed criticisms reflect the charged atmosphere surrounding the impending policy and the broader societal divide on LGBTQ rights in Ghana.

In addition to her direct challenges, Maxine chastised the LGBTQ society in Ghana, urging a more active and uncompromising stance against the pending legislation. She decried what she perceived as a passive response, calling for greater mobilization and determined action as a means to counter the potential enactment of the 'Anti-gay bill.'

In a response to Maxine's accusations, Sam George has, in turn, threatened to name and shame 'Majority' MPs whom he claims have been influenced by parties with a vested interest in promoting LGBT activities in the country. This tit-for-tat exchange of allegations and resistance underscores the high stakes and deep divisions within the Ghanaian political and social landscape regarding LGBTQ rights and legislation.
