Following conversations with the National Identification Authority (NIA) and a subsequent misunderstanding about a planned special registration effort, this decision has been made. On October 11, 2023, the CAGD and the NIA met to discuss the schedule for a registration drive aimed at people without Ghana Cards. But in a subsequent communication, the NIA stated that they were unable to carry out a special registration activity, exposing a misunderstanding.

Instead, the NIA initiated a nationwide general registration on September 4, with a specific focus on public sector employees on the government payroll. In response to this communication, the CAGD has issued a significant advisory to its staff and members, urging prompt registration for Ghana Cards at any of the 292 NIA offices nationwide.
