The Ministry of Finance has approved the release of GH¢4 million to settle the outstanding debt at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) Renal Unit Outpatient Department. This funding is intended to ensure that the Renal Unit can continue to operate without interruption and provide essential services to outpatients.
In May 2023, the outpatient department of the Renal Unit was forced to close due to outstanding debts, causing inconvenience to patients who relied on dialysis services. This closure led to patients seeking treatment elsewhere at a higher cost.
