Trust in God for Economic Recovery - Bawumia


Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, made a heartfelt plea to Ghanaians on January 2, 2023, urging them to place their trust in God as a means of guiding the country through its current economic challenges. These remarks were delivered during his speech at the Dr. Thomas Wyatt Temple of The Church of Pentecost in Accra. Dr. Bawumia emphasized the significance of seeking divine guidance and diligent effort as the fundamental approach to addressing the country's economic difficulties.

Despite the country's pursuit of a three-year Extended Credit Facility from the International Monetary Fund and recent challenges related to external debt payments, Dr. Bawumia expressed the government's unwavering commitment to implementing strategic measures aimed at revitalizing the economy, which has faced significant turmoil, impacting many citizens.

"In recognizing the hardships we face, we remain resolute that, with renewed faith and trust in the word of God, we will weather this storm and effect positive change to the glory of God. We have been diligent in our efforts, all the while placing our trust in God. We do not solely rely on faith but pair it with hard work," Dr. Bawumia remarked.

Throughout 2022, Ghana has encountered a series of challenges impacting various critical sectors, from currency depreciation and credit rating downgrades to labor unrest, inflationary pressures, and escalating fuel prices, among others. Despite these formidable obstacles, Dr. Bawumia, representing the governing NPP, expressed optimism that the country will ultimately overcome these adversities and regain its footing.
